Disaster preparedness for SHTF or everyday calamities is often botched up by beginner mistakes that put our long term food storage at risk. Many of us have gone to use our flour, beans or rice to find a host of unwanted guests throwing a party in our food. Rice Weevils, Flour Beetles, Meal Moths and the like have definitely elicited a couple eeeews and yucks in my household.  We are about to show you the 5 FULLPROOF WAYS TO PROTECT & STORE LONGTERM FOOD STORAGE FOREVER.  With a video walking you thru the steps posted at the end.

1 ) GLASS CANNING JARS - QUART or 1/2 GALLON SIZE

Using these wonderful things will allow you to have rodent proof storage containers, & when protected properly will be sturdy and unlikely to easily break.  These receptacles will allow you to store you beans, rice & flours for 10, 20, 30 years & far beyond.


2 ) HOT DRY CANNING PREPARATION - 

Placing your dry items in the glass jars with NO LIDS ON TOP and placing on cookie sheet in an oven @ 225 degrees for 2 hours will kill almost all if not all eggs, bugs or bacteria in & around your food storage items.  Remove from oven, wipe rim with a damp cloth & place a canning lid & rim on top.  Sit on a towel on the counter for a few hours until the pressure seal clicks down.  You now have solid bug & rat proof storage for 30+ years

3 ) COLD DRY CANNING PREPARATION -

Placing your dry items in the glass jars with CANNING LID & RING ON TOP and placing on cookie sheet in a freezer for 5 DAYS will kill all eggs, bugs & bacteria in & around your food storage items.  Remove from freezer, wipe rim with a damp cloth & place a canning lid & rim on top. You now have solid bug & rat proof storage for 30+ years


4 ) OXYGEN ABSORBER & VACUUM SEAL COLD DRY CANNING JARS -
Many people will get to this option & just use the VACUMMESEALER with the WIDE MOUTH ADAPTER.  Which you can do but it may not get out 100% of the oxygen. That could potentially foster mold or bacterial growth.  When placing 1 -300cc Oxygen Absorber in the top of the jar and then vacumme sealer any oxygen missed will be withdrawn by the absorber. 

 


5 ) COOL DARK STABLE STORAGE LOCATION

Once you have chosen your processing method, make sure to place your jars in a place where they won't clink & clank around.  Some choose to put a large thick rubber band around the center of each jar to provide additional support.  Place in a cupboard, pantry or root cellar where the temperature will be cool & constant.  Voila a FULLPROOF WAYS TO PROTECT & STORE LONGTERM FOOD STORAGE FOREVER

This wonderful herb is GARLIC.  Yes thats right Garlic (Allium Sativum) is a plant with a very strong and bitter flavor which has been used for both culinary and medical purposes for hundreds of years.. The magic compound in garlic that produces most of these great effects is Allicin, which is known to have wonderful anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal and anti-oxidant properties.

To best take advantage of the Allicin eat your garlic fresh & raw or cold pickled; after cutting and left to sit 10 minutes - 4 hours to activate this useful compound.  You can also make garlic oil & apply to bottom of feet or to the back of your wrist to let it enter your bloodstream quickly.



HOW TO MAKE SWEET COLD PICKLED GARLIC


Peel garlic cloves & cut into quarters to fill a small mason jar 3/4 of the way full. Let garlic sit for a minimum of 10 minutes to activate natural allicin. Then pour honey over the garlic until the jar is about 1/3 full of honey, then pour vinegar in to fill the rest. Add 1/2  tsp. salt if desired for taste. Shake well, and leave it to sit for 4 weeks (shaking occasionally).   You can start eating after two days yet cloves will still have crunch. You now have sweet garlic pickles! 

HOW TO MAKE SOUR PICKLED GARLIC

 

Peel desired amount of garlic cloves & cut into quarters. Let garlic sit for a minimum of 10 minutes to activate natural allicin. Add garlic to boiling sour pickle brine for one minute then remove from heat.  Fill mason jar 3/4 of the way full with garlic & then fill with sour pickle brine, top jar with lid & let sit for 24 hours.  Time to enjoy your crispy mild & sour garlic pickles. ( OUR FAVORITE )
You can make this recipe without heating garlic, but if you do we would suggest eating garlic pickles after letting sit for a week.  SOUR PICKLE BRINE - 2 cups distilled white vinegar, 2 cups water, 2 1/2 tbsp salt, 2 tsp dried dill

If the family gets a cold, have one or two pickled garlic pickles a day to help get over the cold and get the whole family feeling better. You can also take one clove a day as preventative medicine when people around you are getting sick.

HOW TO MAKE GARLIC OIL


Use four cloves of garlic ( MINCED ) for every 1/4 cup of olive oil, make sure the garlic you choose is from your garden or organic.  Combine olive oil and minced garlic in a saucepan and heat over very low for 15 minutes, watch it stirring often & make sure to not burn the garlic or oil.   Remove from the heat & cover until cooled. Strain the garlic from the oil. Pour into a dropper bottle and label with what it is & the date .  Keep refrigerated, where it will last for a couple of months, warm before each use.




HOW GARLIC DESTROYS ATHLETES FOOT


Apply a few drops  of GARLIC OIL to the affected areas & rub into the skin before bed & put on a sock.  Continue to apply nightly until you athletes foot issue disappears.

HOW TO HEAL EAR INFECTIONS WITH GARLIC


Put 3-4 drops of warm garlic oil in each affected ear while head is tilted on its side for about 10-15 minutes.  repeat 2-3 times daily until symptoms are gone.


HOW GARLIC DESTROYS WARTS


Garlic's ability to fight  bacteria and infections makes it a super effective cure for warts and other skin problems. Use a fresh clove of garlic and cut its tip off. Rub the cut area of the clove directly onto the wart for a few seconds.  Repeat this procedure each night before going to bed until the wart vanishes.



GARLIC PILLS ARE BETTER THAN NOTHING

Fresh & raw garlic is always the best.  But if you either can't handle the taste or dont have access to the fresh option then get your hands on some odorless non irradiated garlic pills.  Beware of of garlic pills from china because most of these options are irradiated & have lost most of their potent natural healing properties.
